Through support of leadership, we have been able to develop a whole range of HIPAA compliant cloud-hosted patient-centered mobile apps that link to EHRs (see http://wwww.sinaiapplab.org for details). We believe this mobile health based strategy is key for 21st century patient-provider engagement; and plan to evaluate our apps in pragmatic trials to determine if they can achieve meaningful difference in patient outcomes.

For our app that we design, our goal is to achieve a level of adoption similar to MetroCard vending machines which majority of people can use without any training, and irrespective of their education level or prior computer use.
